Hyperlocal rental camping gear outpost locations

We've partnered with local small businesses to let you conveniently pick up and drop off gear in your neighborhood! Now you can rent camping gear with less hassle and waiting in line.

Detailed how it works

Dropping off gear is easy - you can drop off whenever your selected outpost is open.

Picking up gear requires us to have time to prepare your order and bring it to these outposts. Here's how it works:

  1. We have standard operational days:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
    • Exclude public holidays and days where we don't have staffing. In the next 14 days, there are no exceptions
  2. On each of these days, we go to the warehouse in the morning at 9am to pack orders
  3. All orders are delivered to the outpost by 11am

This is largely straightforward, but does create a few nuances:

If you want to pick up from an outpost... Then you have to place the order... Example

On the same day that you're placing the order

Assuming this is a standard operational day

By 9am that day Reminder we won't be able to deliver gear to the outpost until 11am or when they open (if they open later than that)

Before 11am on a given day

Assuming the outpost itself is open earlier

By 9am on the previous standard operational day For example, if a outpost is open from 8am to 5pm Friday, and you want to pick up right at 8am Friday, then you actually need to place this order by 9am on Thursday so that we can bring it with Thursday's orders!

On a date that's not a standard operational day

Assuming the outpost itself is open this date

By 9am on the previous standard operational day For example, if a outpost is open on a weekend day that's not one of our standard operational days, then you actually need to place this order by 9am on Friday so that we can bring it with Friday's orders!

How can I pick up last minute? Aren't you called Last Minute Gear??

If you're ordering last minute, we do have some gear available (our catalog will show you if it is). In any case, however, last minute orders must be picked up at our warehouse outpost itself downtown.

We've had to close our store downtown to walk-ins, including last minute orders, due to San Francisco's ongoing challenges with its downtown recovery. As a result our downtown facility is only functioning as our warehouse and an outpost for you to get or return gear via your smartphone and our self-service process. We're sorry for the inconvenience, we may re-open a store at a future date, but for now these changes are necessary to help us stay afloat.

General outpost notes

These regular hours are controlled by the business itself, we always advise checking their hours on their website for the latest information in case of changes.

Outposts do not have gear for browsing or Last Minute Gear staff! You should only go if you have an order to get or return. Additionally as the staff do not work for Last Minute Gear, they will not be able to answer any questions about the rental gear.

Be vigilant at all times! We recommend, for example, never leaving anything, even small things like empty water bottles, in your vehicle to avoid attracting attention for break-ins. Also be mindful of your belongings whenever in public.

Driving and finding parking in cities can be a challenge! We're highlighting garages and yellow commercial loading zones, which in San Francisco can be used by regular cars for ~3 minutes without penalty. Street parking is generally always an option but may be hard to find. Some people choose to double park and have 1 person in the car and 1 person going inside to get gear.

San Francisco has lots of bus options! And there will usually be several by each of our outposts. However, we're highlighting only lightrail (MUNI), metro (BART) and rail (CalTrain) accessibility.

You are responsible! All of our notes are suggestions - it's your responsibility to be aware of the rules and neither we nor the businesses at the outposts shall be responsible or liable for any issues (e.g., tickets, towaways, thefts, or damages) that arise.
